They are responsible for designing the homes of private individuals. In order to work for a residential architecture firm, one must have at least a bachelor's degree in architecture and some experience. They are required to know how to sketch properly and use programs such as CAD and SketchUp.

A bachelor's degree in architecture is necessary for this career. Some sort of experience, such as an internship, would also be recommended.
